(Sighs)
Well, see, I'm mixed in my viewpoint, because there are actually some modern anime which are amazing despite some of the vastly ridiculous anime that are out now. When you're talking about the modern era of Naruto, Bleach, YuGiOh GX (And GX only, because hey, the original YuGiOh was awesome), Duel Masters, and you know, a few others, yes, there is certain degree of stereotyping and whinginess there, but it tends to happen in most plotlines.
But then there's some of the good modern anime, like Chobits, Fruits Basket, Lain, Death Note (I saw someone saying Death Note is bad down there, it's not true; I'd wager that Death Note has only developed a cult hate following because of it's insane popularity), Excel Saga (How is Excel Saga not awesome? It's so random and spastic), Midori Days, Vampire Knight, and a whole list of others I've seen.
No, it may not have the same charm as the oldern anime like Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Yu Yu Hakusho, Ranma 1/2 and all that, but there are qualities in it relevant to today's youth and it's entertaining none the less. Anime is an art form, and thus, it is subjective; each individual makes up their own mind about it. I may hate anime like Bleach, Chrono Trigger, and Neon Genesis Evangelion, and love anime like Dragon Ball Z, Death Note and Vampire Knight, but I'm going to give the next anime fan the right to hate and love what they want - even if it is as bad as Bleach, Naruto, or even worse, Duel Masters.
To each their own, you know?
